Concrete quality control laboratory
Quality Control
Laboratory
The laboratory specializes in conducting the necessary tests for all types of concrete used in construction projects. It examines the properties of concrete both before and after pouring and tests the materials used in its production. These tests are conducted in accordance with the Saudi Concrete Code and ASTM standards to ensure and enhance product quality.
Laboratory technician performing a concrete quality test
The laboratory is equipped with the necessary tools and devices to perform these tests, whether on concrete samples or the materials used in concrete production, both inside and outside the lab.
Quality Control System in the Laboratory:
  1. Calibration of laboratory equipment for concrete testing both in the lab and on-site.
  2. Ensuring that the concrete mix and its components comply with technical specifications.
  3. Designing various trial mixes to maintain the factory’s full and constant readiness.
  1. Conducting field tests.
  2. Sampling and testing during concrete pouring.
  3. Testing hardened concrete samples.
  4. Preparing periodic reports on material testing results and sample crushing outcomes.

Calibration of Laboratory Equipment and Concrete Testing
Inside and Outside the Laboratory

The laboratory ensures that concrete components comply with technical specifications by collaborating with leading companies accredited by relevant government authorities in the field of scientific equipment calibration for ready-mix concrete laboratories. This is done to maintain the highest quality standards for the equipment used in the laboratory and to ensure the accuracy of the mixing station scales at the factory.

Ensuring Compliance of Concrete Components
with Technical Specifications

The laboratory ensures that all concrete components meet the required technical specifications. This is achieved through rigorous testing and monitoring of the materials used in the concrete mix, as well as verifying that the design mixes align with the specified standards. Regular checks are conducted to maintain the quality and consistency of the concrete, ensuring it meets the expectations and requirements of the relevant authorities.

Designing multiple trial mixes to enhance the current product
and maintain the factory’s full and constant readiness

After conducting numerous tests on the materials used in the concrete mix, several trial mixes are designed to improve the current product and ensure the factory’s full and continuous readiness. This is done using international standards and specifications (BS, ASTM, and ACI).

Field Testing

The laboratory performs field tests on concrete before pouring, including:

  • Measuring temperature using a digital thermometer.

Measuring Concrete Consistency Using Slump Test
Slump testSlump testing tools

The slump test is one of the common tests for fresh concrete, measuring the consistency of the concrete mix. It is conducted according to international standards (ASTM C143-78). The primary purpose of measuring the consistency of fresh concrete is to achieve a mix with an acceptable workability level.

Sampling During Concrete Pouring:
Concrete sample cylindersConcrete sampling

Trained technicians take samples (cube or cylinder) from the poured concrete on-site. These samples are cured and prepared for crushing at specific ages (7 days and 28 days).

Testing Hardened Concrete Samples
Sample Crushing Machine:

Samples are crushed using a crushing machine to determine the sample’s strength and verify its compliance with the required strength.

Preparation of Periodic Reports for Material
Testing and Sample Crushing Results

The laboratory prepares periodic reports for the tests conducted on materials and crushed samples, providing them to the relevant specialists. Additionally, the laboratory maintains an archive system that includes files for tests, calibration certificates, and other related documents.
